My Services

At times, we all need some support and help whilst navigating our way through life. Tides Counselling Cork can offer a warm, empathetic and non-judgmental space for you to explore any issues or difficulties that may arise in your life.

“Counselling / Psychotherapy is for anybody. It can be of great support in times of crisis or change. Both Counselling and Psychotherapy involve the provision of professional assistance to people who are experiencing personal issues, in order to help alleviate those difficulties” (IACP, A Guide to Counselling and Psychotherapy).

Is counselling for me?

Fundamentally, counselling is about you and your journey. Together, we can look at whatever is going on in your life. Therapy is about gaining insight into who you are and how you are in the world. I will meet you where you are in life in a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental way. The therapy room is your space. Together, we can work towards healing and change.

Attending counselling for the first time may feel daunting. Rest assured, I understand this and it is a natural response to have. We will leave lots of space to discuss any questions you may have. Therapy sessions typically last for 60minutes and are held weekly. During your initial counselling session, we will explore what brings you to therapy and if I am the right therapist for you. We will discuss your needs and goals whilst leaving space for any questions you may have. We will work at a pace that suits you.

Should you need to cancel an arranged appointment, I ask for 48 hours notice. In the unlikely event that I need to cancel our session, I too will adhere to 48 hours notice.

The amount of sessions needed will vary depending on circumstances. There are times when a person will attend therapy for a short period of time whilst others may wish to stay for longer. Together, we can explore what best suits you and your needs. I usually suggest attending 6 sessions and together we can review your needs at that point.

Confidentiality is paramount in counselling which, in essence, means that what is said in the room stays in the room. There are, however, some limits to confidentiality. Examples listed below.

1. If you are danger to yourself or others.

2. If you disclose that a child may be at risk which has not been reported.

Limits of confidentiality also operate within the law which means I must report:

1. Unreported sex abuse where the abuser is still alive.

2. Involvement in a criminal activity.

During our initial meeting we will discuss confidentiality, its limits and you are invited to ask any questions you may have.

How much will it cost?

Each 60 minute therapy session costs €60. If you have any questions or would like to enquire further about beginning therapy sessions, please feel free to contact me via email or on 0876190884
